Fundraiser March 2015

This is my monthly report for generous patrons who contributed €219.23 to support development of Nuvola Player in March 2015. Thanks to them, I paid for tiliado.eu domain for Nuvola Player repository and website (one year for €5.32, cheaper than the previous domain registrar) and spend 21.39 hours working on fifteen tasks, which are listed bellow with a few comments, so my reward was €10.00 per hour (I keep it near a minimum wage in Western Europe). However, the Nuvola Player project is still underfunded, I could work more if you would wish so.

My dream is to work as an independent open source developer on software for all users around the world. Software for you. You can support my work on Nuvola Player via PayPal, Gratipay, Patreon, Flattr or Bitcoin. Let's make Nuvola Player more awesome!

Thank you!

Support & bug fixes

Date: March 31, 2015, 10:51 a.m. • Work time: 3.42 hours • Spent funds: €34.20

I was dealing with following support requests and bug fixes.

  1. I helped to find out a cause and a solution of issue Spotify ads crank system volume up

  2. I modified Debian packaging in a way that package nuvolaplayer3 doesn't depend on nuvolaplayer3-all-services, but recommends it.

  3. I requested more information in following tickets:

  4. I added to the wishlist three new feature requests:

  5. I investigated Nuvola Player 2 issue Empty Google Music page with top frame bar, which was caused by an old WebKit library with missing requestAnimationFrame functionality. I recommended system upgrade to a newer WebKit library and offered development of a workaround if it gets funded (4 hours of work).

  6. I responded to bug report Nuvolaplayer 3 doesn't show the icons in the toolbar in KDE. KDE desktop environment is not supported for now, so the bug will be addressed later.

GTK+ 3.10 Fixes

Date: March 15, 2015, 8:39 a.m. • Work time: 3.01 hours • Spent funds: €30.10

I notices and fixed a few issues that occur only with GTK+ 3.10 (fedora 20, Ubuntu 14.04).

  • Fixed vertical alignment and size of the menu button in the header bar.
  • Fixed reversed ordering of buttons on the right side of the header bar.
  • Added extra padding for the title in the header bar.

Custom Network Proxy Settings

Date: March 12, 2015, 7:36 p.m. • Work time: 1.55 hours • Spent funds: €15.50

I investigated whether it is possible to set custom network proxy settings instead of using system preferences. Unfortunately, there is no API for that in WebKit2GTK+ library. However, I have found an ugly hack how to disable the default proxy resolver and will investigate further.
